Scars
When the body suffers a trauma, an injury, accident or burn, the skin reacts by forming a scar. These markings can be either subtle, or quite noticeable, causing one to feel self-conscious and socially shut down.
Different types of scars
Surface blemishes
Some scars are minor and can be easily improved with cosmetic procedures. These types of scars include those from acne, as well as from surgical incisions. They do not challenge the functioning of the body, but rather are removed for aesthetic reasons. See Dr. Fisher for some of the most beautiful results from acne scar removal Beverly Hills clients depend on.
Keloid scars
These are large discolored areas that may sometimes itch, and may be raised. Keloid scars venture out beyond the borders of the trauma and tend to appear on the shoulders, neck and chest.
Hypertrophic scars
Here, in order to compensate for a wound, the body develops a series of raised lesions that are sometimes red and are often discolored, either darker or lighter than one’s natural skin color. Scarring is the result of collagen being overproduced.
Contracture scars
